A true natural fortress surrounded by imposing cliffs, the Vercors reveals an entirely different character once you pass through its limestone ramparts. It's a massif defined by the immensity of its Hauts Plateaux, the largest nature reserve in mainland France, situated at the heart of the Regional Natural Park. Thanks to its relatively gentle terrain, it's an ideal ground for winter hiking. The landscape is dominated by the Grand Veymont, the massif's highest point, on whose slopes you're guaranteed to spot numerous ibex, and of course by the iconic Mont Aiguille, standing apart from the main escarpment.
