Straddling three countries, the Mont Blanc range is a place of superlatives, with Mont Blanc itself known as the roof of Europe. Its glaciers and iconic peaks, including the Aiguille du Midi, the Grandes Jorasses and the Aiguille Verte, make it a classic mountaineering destination. I’ve spent much more time climbing here than hiking, apart from the now very busy Tour du Mont Blanc. This gallery also includes the neighboring Aiguilles Rouges, which offer sweeping views across the Mont Blanc range. The main trails are often busy, but those willing to venture higher can still find quieter places.
