Mercantour.

The southernmost massif of the Alps, the Mercantour is shaped by Mediterranean influence and a very distinctive vegetation. It's a vast territory stretching far and wide, offering a wide variety of landscapes, from the Tinée to the Vésubie via the Vallée des Merveilles. I actually find it to be one of the massifs where wildlife is easiest to observe, no doubt thanks to its status as a National Park where fauna is protected. You often have to contend with the nebbia, that characteristic sea mist that rises from the coast to cling to the summits.
